We, the undersigned residents of Whitby, are demanding an immediate end to reckless and wasteful spending. While families struggle with rising taxes, mortgages, groceries, and gas, we have seen:
 

•  A $1 million revolving door at Durham Region Headquarters.

•  A reported $5 million overpayment for homeless shelter @ 1635 Dundas St. E 

•  A $500,000 five-day trip to Germany.

•  $4.2 million in lost dividend and interest income from Elexicon.

•  16 refrigerators purchased at $4,000 each for staff kitchenettes

 
This is not fiscal responsibility. This is not putting residents first. We demand:
 

•  Full public disclosure of these expenses.

•  An independent value-for-money audit.

•  Immediate reforms to stop unnecessary spending.

•  A commitment to protect taxpayers before approving new discretionary costs. 

 

Every dollar wasted is a dollar taken from hardworking Whitby families.  It’s time for accountability. It’s time for common sense. It’s time to stop wasting our money
